Last Updated: August 1, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of TheCovenantProject.org, including the pages, materials, features, and subdomains that link to these Terms (collectively, the “Site”).

The Site is operated by Liberty & Light, doing business as The Covenant Project (“The Covenant Project,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Purpose of the Site

The Covenant Project is a nonprofit organization. The Site provides religious, historical, educational, cultural, charitable, and organizational information and may offer newsletters, articles, press materials, event information, donation opportunities, and links to other resources.

The Site is intended to inform, educate, encourage, and invite further exploration. Its availability does not create a pastoral, fiduciary, professional, contractual, employment, membership, or advisory relationship unless a separate written agreement expressly establishes one.

2. Eligibility and Minors

People of all ages may view publicly available Site content, subject to these Terms.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, to:

  • Make a donation or payment;
  • Register for an event that creates a legal or financial commitment;
  • Submit material for possible publication;
  • Enter into another transaction through the Site.

The Site is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 should not provide personal information through the Site.

3. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

4. Limited Permission to Use the Site

Subject to these Terms, The Covenant Project grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access and use the Site for lawful personal, family, educational, religious, and other noncommercial purposes.

You may:

  • Link to publicly available Site pages;
  • Share links through email or social media;
  • Print a reasonable number of copies for personal or family use;
  • Quote brief excerpts for commentary, teaching, scholarship, news reporting, or discussion when accompanied by appropriate attribution and otherwise permitted by law.

This permission does not transfer ownership of any Site content.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use the Site to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation;
  • Infringe or misappropriate intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights;
  • Transmit malware, harmful code, or destructive material;
  • Interfere with the Site’s operation or security;
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system, account, database, or restricted area;
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
  • Submit fraudulent, defamatory, threatening, obscene, exploitative, or unlawful material;
  • Harvest email addresses or other information about visitors or subscribers;
  • Send spam or unauthorized promotional communications;
  • Circumvent access controls, rate limits, security measures, or content restrictions;
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, extract, index, or download substantial portions of the Site without permission;
  • Reproduce, republish, sell, sublicense, commercially exploit, or create a competing collection from substantial Site content;
  • Use Site content to train, develop, evaluate, or improve an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system without our prior written permission, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
  • Falsely suggest that The Covenant Project endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with you or your activity.

We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.

6. Ownership and Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the Site and its original content—including text, graphics, logos, designs, photographs, videos, audio, compilations, and other materials—are owned by The Covenant Project or used with permission from their respective owners.

The Covenant Project’s names, logos, slogans, program names, and visual identifiers may be trademarks or service marks. No right to use them is granted except as expressly stated in these Terms or authorized in writing.

Some Site content may belong to media partners, authors, photographers, publishers, studios, production companies, historical archives, or other third parties. Your use of that content may be subject to additional restrictions, attribution requirements, or licenses.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights available under fair use or another applicable exception under law.

7. Linking, Quoting, and Republishing

We welcome accurate links to public Site content.

When quoting or referring to our material, you should:

  • Identify The Covenant Project as the source;
  • Link to the original page when practicable;
  • Preserve the meaning and context of the quoted material;
  • Avoid suggesting endorsement or partnership without permission.

You must obtain written permission before:

  • Republishing an entire article or a substantial portion of an article;
  • Incorporating substantial Site content into a book, course, database, publication, product, or commercial service;
  • Modifying and redistributing our graphics, branded materials, or downloadable resources;
  • Using our logos or marks in promotional materials;
  • Selling or licensing Site content;
  • Using Site content in a manner likely to imply sponsorship, endorsement, or official affiliation.

Permission requests may be directed to support@thecovenantproject.org

8. Communications and Submissions

You may be able to send us inquiries, feedback, ideas, corrections, or other communications.

You retain ownership of original material that you submit. By submitting material through a general communication channel, you give us a limited, nonexclusive permission to receive, store, review, reproduce internally, and use the material as reasonably necessary to:

  • Respond to you;
  • Evaluate your communication;
  • Operate and improve our programs;
  • Maintain organizational records;
  • Address legal, safety, or security concerns.

Submitting material through a general form does not give us permission to publicly identify you, publish a personal testimony, use your likeness, or feature your story in promotional materials.

If we wish to publish or publicly use a testimony, photograph, recording, personal story, or similar material, we may request a separate written release or other express permission.

Do not submit material that:

  • You do not have the right to provide;
  • Violates another person’s privacy or intellectual-property rights;
  • Includes confidential information belonging to another person or organization;
  • Contains unlawful, defamatory, threatening, or harmful content;
  • Contains unnecessary sensitive personal, medical, or financial information.

We are not obligated to use, publish, return, or respond to unsolicited material.

9. Accuracy, Editorial Judgment, and Corrections

We seek to provide thoughtful and accurate material, but religious, historical, cultural, artistic, and interpretive topics may involve differing accounts, viewpoints, inferences, typologies, theories, or unresolved questions.

Site content may be revised as new information, source review, editorial analysis, or corrections become available.

We do not warrant that every item is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for every purpose. You are responsible for evaluating information and consulting primary sources or qualified professionals when appropriate.

Corrections may be submitted to support@thecovenantproject.org

10. Religious and Educational Information

Site content reflects the mission, research, editorial judgment, and viewpoints of The Covenant Project and its identified contributors.

Nothing on the Site should be treated as an official statement by a church, denomination, government, studio, production company, media partner, historical institution, or other organization unless the content expressly says that it is.

The Site does not replace personal scripture study, prayer, family discussion, pastoral counsel, professional historical research, or guidance from an individual’s faith community.

11. No Professional Advice

The Site does not provide legal, medical, mental-health, financial, tax, investment, or other regulated professional advice.

You should consult an appropriately qualified professional regarding decisions that require such advice. Do not delay seeking professional assistance because of something you read or viewed on the Site.

12. Donations

Donations made through the Site are voluntary charitable contributions to Liberty & Light, doing business as The Covenant Project, unless a donation page expressly identifies another recipient or restriction.

Unless otherwise required by law or stated on the donation page, donations are generally final and nonrefundable. We may, in our discretion, correct or refund:

  • Duplicate transactions;
  • Incorrect donation amounts;
  • Unauthorized transactions;
  • Processing errors;
  • Other transactions when a refund is required by law or determined appropriate.

Requests should be submitted promptly, preferably within 30 days of the transaction, to support@thecovenantproject.org. A refund may depend on verification and the policies of the payment processor.

If you set up a recurring donation, it will continue on the schedule you select until you cancel it. You may cancel a recurring donation at any time by [contacting us at (support@thecovenantproject.org) / using the cancellation option in your donor account], effective before the next scheduled charge if received at least [3] business days in advance. Cancelling a recurring donation does not entitle you to a refund of any donation already processed, except as provided above.

We will make reasonable efforts to honor a stated charitable designation, but unless the donation page expressly creates a legally binding restriction, the organization retains discretion to use contributions in furtherance of its charitable mission and needs.

Any acknowledgment concerning tax deductibility is subject to applicable law. Donors are responsible for consulting their own tax advisers.

13. Events, Registrations, and Additional Terms

Events, programs, downloads, contests, campaigns, or other services may have additional terms, eligibility rules, releases, deadlines, or policies.

When additional terms conflict with these Terms, the additional terms will control for the relevant activity.

Event schedules, speakers, locations, formats, and availability may change. Unless expressly stated, The Covenant Project is not responsible for travel expenses, lodging costs, lost reservations, or other expenses arising from event changes or cancellation.

14. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may link to content, productions, studios, ministries, historical resources, donation processors, social networks, video services, event platforms, or other third-party websites.

Third-party resources are provided for convenience, context, research, or further exploration. We do not control them and are not responsible for their:

  • Availability;
  • Accuracy or completeness;
  • Security or privacy practices;
  • Products, services, representations, or transactions;
  • Changes, policies, or conduct.

A link or reference does not automatically constitute endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or approval of everything associated with the third party.

Your dealings with a third party are between you and that third party and may be governed by separate terms.

The Covenant Project respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our designated agent that includes: (a) a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; (c) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it; (d) your contact information, including address, telephone number, and email address; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”

THE COVENANT PROJECT DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND SECURITY.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE;
  • DEFECTS WILL ALWAYS BE CORRECTED;
  • THE SITE OR ITS SERVERS WILL BE FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS;
  • CONTENT WILL BE COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE;
  • YOUR USE OF THE SITE WILL PRODUCE A PARTICULAR SPIRITUAL, EDUCATIONAL, PERSONAL, OR OTHER RESULT.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

16. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COVENANT PROJECT AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, CONTRACTORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE.

THIS INCLUDES LOSS ARISING FROM:

  • USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE;
  • RELIANCE ON SITE CONTENT;
  • THIRD-PARTY CONTENT OR SERVICES;
  • UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, SECURITY EVENTS, OR DATA LOSS;
  • EVENT CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS;
  • ERRORS, OMISSIONS, OR INTERRUPTIONS.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED $100:

This limitation does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

17. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Covenant Project and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and reasonable costs arising from:

  • Your unlawful use of the Site;
  • Your material violation of these Terms;
  • Material you submit;
  • Your violation of another person’s rights.

This provision does not require indemnification to the extent the claim arises from The Covenant Project’s own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

18. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, limit, or terminate access to all or part of the Site at any time when reasonably necessary to:

  • Maintain or improve the Site;
  • Protect security or users;
  • Address suspected violations;
  • Comply with law;
  • Discontinue a feature or program.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including provisions concerning ownership, submissions, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.

19. Governing Law and Venue

Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Informal Resolution. Before initiating a legal action, the parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute arising from or relating to the Site or these Terms through informal negotiation for a period of thirty (30) days following written notice of the dispute to the other party.

Mediation. If the dispute is not resolved through informal negotiation, the parties agree to submit it to non-binding mediation before pursuing litigation. Mediation will be administered by Utah ADR Services (or, if unavailable, a comparable mediation provider mutually agreed by the parties), to take place in Utah County, Utah. Each party will bear its own costs of mediation, and the parties will share the mediator’s fees equally, unless the parties agree otherwise. Neither party is required to continue mediation beyond sixty (60) days after a mediator is appointed unless the parties agree to extend that period.

Venue. If a dispute is not resolved through Informal Resolution or Mediation, any legal action arising from or relating to the Site or these Terms must be brought exclusively in the Fourth Judicial District Court in and for Utah County, Utah, or, for actions within federal subject-matter jurisdiction, the United States District Court for the District of Utah, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts and waives any objection to venue.

Emergency Relief. Nothing in this Section 19 prevents either party from seeking temporary or emergency relief in a court of appropriate jurisdiction at any time to protect intellectual property, confidential information, security, or safety, without first complying with the other provisions of this Section 19.

Jury Trial Waiver.  EACH PARTY IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY WAIVES, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY IN ANY LEGAL ACTION, PROCEEDING, OR COUNTERCLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS.

20. Changes to the Site or These Terms

We may modify the Site and these Terms as our activities, services, or legal obligations change.

When we revise these Terms, we will post the updated version and change the “Last Updated” date. Material changes may receive additional notice when appropriate or legally required.

Changes apply prospectively from their effective date. Your continued use of the Site after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

21. General Provisions

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and The Covenant Project concerning use of the Site, except where additional terms apply.

If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision.

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with an organizational restructuring, transfer of programs or assets, or similar transaction.

Headings are provided for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
